BCORE-4
SO that multiple people can prototype multiple sub-systems at the same time without needing to all stand around the same robot, we are going to utilize "Protobots" The Protobots are essentially the base of the robot, without the expense of actual swerve drives.
Only one true drive base is built and immediately becomes available to the programming team.
Subsystems get prototyped and built out on the Protobots and only move to the drive base when they are functioning correctly on the Protobots.
This avoids the situation where programming team does not get their hands access to the robot until right before competition. As soon as the drive base is created, they have full access to it. They are not blocked by people building out the subsystems and one sub-system team does not block the other.
The Protobots should have:
- 4 sides of extruded max tube (even if our intended drive base will have a split chasis)
- Joined at the corners by swerve brackets https://compass-robotics.com/burndown/task/141
- A bottom plate made of pegboard so the holes make it easy to measure and mark the footprint of subsystems.
